Jimmy started out with a technical background in film lighting and VFX/miniatures shooting in the early 2000s on The Lord of the Rings trilogy, then went on to direct and produce award winning music videos for Kiwi and Aussie musicians, like The Black Seeds and Grinspoon.
In the intervening years Jimmy, has directed hundreds of TVCs for national and international brands, directed several episodes of international television and won a handful of awards.
His debut short film 'Koro's Medal' a children's action comedy, was funded by the NZ Film Commission and has shown in 13 Film Festivals worldwide, including the premiere at the Edinburgh International and Chicago Kids. It was awarded Best Short Film at Dreamspeakers Film Festival in Canada, still regularly plays on Whakaata Māori (Māori TV) and is used as a study module in the NCEA Drama curriculum for Year 12 students.
Jimmy is fluent in Portuguese, is a registered marriage celebrant and loves cooking.
